Battery

The motorcycle battery is a sealed, maintenance-free battery. Do not remove the battery cap strip for any reason. Keep the battery connections clean and tight at all times.
WARNING
Battery electrolyte is poisonous. It contains sulfuric acid. Serious burns can result from contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
External: Flush with water.
Internal: Drink large quantities of water or milk. Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Call physician immediately.
Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention.
Batteries may produce explosive gases.
  • Keep sparks, flame, cigarettes, etc. away.
  • Ventilate when charging or using in an enclosed space.
  • Always shield eyes when working near batteries
  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Battery Removal

  1. Remove the battery cover by removing three fasteners . Image
  2. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
    caution
    Be careful not to cross battery terminals.
  3. Disconnect positive battery terminal.
  4. Remove battery from battery box.

Battery Installation

  1. Install battery into battery box.
  2. Connect the positive battery terminal and torque fastener to specification.
    TORQUE

    Battery Terminal Fastener:

    25 in-lbs (3 N·m)

  3. Connect the negative battery terminal and torque fastener to specification.
    TORQUE

    Battery Terminal Fastener:

    25 in-lbs (3 N·m)

  4. Install battery cover and three fasteners.
    TORQUE

    Battery Cover Fastener

    36 in-lbs (4 N·m)
