Suspension Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

Rear suspension bottoms too easily

  • Adjust rear track shock clicker stiffer (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).
  • Verify rear spring is not broken/dislodged.
  • Rebuild rear track shock (see your dealer).

Rides too stiff in rear

  • Check for binding suspension shafts and grease all pivot points.
  • Adjust rear track shock clicker to softer setting (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).
  • Check track tension.

Too much weight transfer when climbing

Adjust rear shock spring (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).

Too little weight transfer when climbing

Adjust rear shock spring (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).

Machine darts from side to side

  • Check ski alignment.

    Make sure spindles and all steering components turn freely.

  • Check for excessive play in steering assembly (see your dealer).
  • Ensure skags are straight on skis.
  • Adjust rear shock spring (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).
  • Check rail slide/replace if worn.

Front end pushes

  • Decrease front track shock spring preload in 1/8 in. (3 mm) increments.
  • Increase front suspension shock spring preload in 1/8 in. (3 mm) increments.
  • Check for worn skags.
  • Adjust rear shock spring (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).
  • Check for binding front suspension shafts and steering components.

Steering is heavy

  • Make sure spindles and all steering components turn freely.
  • Check ski alignment.
  • Check skags and skis for damage.
  • Adjust rear shock spring (see rear track shock information found in the Suspension Quick Set-Up Guide section of this manual).
  • Increase front track shock spring preload in 1/8 in. (3 mm) increments.

Track skips / ratchets

  • Track tension too loose.
  • Studs (if installed) are loose. Follow manufacturer’s installation instructions and re-torque studs.
