Traction Products

Adding traction products to your sled improves acceleration, braking, and steering control, especially on hard-packed snow and ice. The more aggressive rider you are, the more traction you need. The key is to have the right balance of traction products on your track and skis.
WARNING
Loss of control can result in serious injury or death. Proper balance of traction products on the skis and track must be maintained to obtain proper vehicle control on hard-packed snow or ice. See your dealer for assistance.

Carbide Skags

A skag is a replaceable bar attached to the underside of the ski to assist in turning the snowmobile and to prevent ski wear caused by contact with roads and other bare terrain.
Inspect skags frequently. Worn skags may reduce steering and braking control on hard-packed snow and ice. Replace worn skags to maintain proper balance and vehicle control.

Track Studs

Adding studs to a track must be done in a balanced fashion to avoid imbalance and vibration. Always use a stud pattern that does not allow studs to contact any stud protection features in the tunnel.
Use of studs longer than recommended for your model will result in damage to your snowmobile.

550 Widetrak Track Stud Recommendation

NOTICE
Maximum stud length for this track is 0.92" (23 mm). Installing longer studs will result in damage to the tunnel. Do not install any studs in the outer belts of the track or vehicle damage will occur.
The 156" track has 62 pitches. To keep the track balanced, always choose a stud pattern that includes the same amount of studs on each pitch or on every other pitch.
